King Shobiyet with Pistachio
Hand-rolled, forty-layer baklava finished with crushed Turkish pistachio. $2.00
Forty thin layers of dough, rolled by hand with an oklava — a Turkish rolling pin — and finished daily in our own kitchen. Baklava, Turkish breakfast, kunefe and coffee, all in the heart of University Avenue.
Oklava is the Turkish word for the thin rolling pin used to stretch baklava dough down to forty delicate layers. It's also the name Elif Asli Uzun and Aziz Aslan gave their café when they couldn't find the Turkish flavors they missed anywhere nearby — so they brought Bursa and Istanbul to University Avenue instead.
A taste of the counter — baklava, breakfast, hot desserts and the coffee bar. See everything on the full menu.

A Turkish bakery and coffee shop right in the middle of downtown, with a great location, free Wi-Fi and plenty of seating — an easy place to settle in and stay a while.
Stopped in on a Saturday night and loved the range of coffees, food and desserts. The Turkish coffee arrived with a little sweet on the side and sparkling water — and the staff were genuinely warm.
Wrote in just to say thank you for an exceptional visit — the kind of hospitality that makes you want to come back and bring everyone you know.
